1 tablespoon green tea (typically Chinese gunpowder green tea)
A handful of fresh mint leaves
2-3 sugar cubes (or more, depending on your preference)
1 liter of boiling water
Directions
- Prepare the Teapot:
Add the green tea to a Moroccan teapot (or any teapot if you don’t have one). Pour in about 1/2 cup of boiling water, swish it around, and pour out this water. This helps clean the tea and also warms the teapot. - Brew the Tea:
Add the fresh mint leaves and the sugar cubes to the teapot. Fill the teapot with the remaining boiling water. - Let it Steep:
Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to develop. Traditionally, the tea is then mixed by pouring it from a height into a glass and back into the pot. This helps dissolve the sugar and aerates the tea, giving it a frothy top. - Serve:
Serve the tea in small glasses, pouring it from a height as shown in the image to create a frothy texture.
